iGEM Summer Competition |

iGEM is a summer competition in Synthetic Biology. It has been initiated in summer 2004 in the US at MIT and went international in 2005. We expect more than 160 schools from all over North and South America, Europe, Africa and Asia for the 2013 edition of the synthetic biology summer competition for the design of biological systems (iGEM). Figure 1. The iGEM competition is about designing, modeling and implementing novel synthetic circuits into living organism (typically E. coli), and to compete with the circuits built by other student teams from all over the world in regional and global Jamborees. To win the competition, students from various different diciplines (biology, engineering, computer science, ...) work together and complement one another.
